September building addition progress report
After a very productive September, the south building addition will soon be completely closed in. As of Sept. 30, the electrical conduits and plumbing requirements were being completed in the subgrade and the mason crew was beginning to pour interior concrete.

In the last month, the major outside construction work was completed. The majority of crane runways went up with additional cranes scheduled to be installed in the next couple of weeks. The dirt around the addition was seeded, and Pella REC did the necessary preparations for an additional electrical transformer. Planning continues for equipment layout and the new projects group location for when the addition is complete.
Looking ahead, the week of Oct. 17 will be a big one. The south wall of the existing facility will be moved to the south end of the addition. Simultaneously, all the overhead doors and glass will be installed, completely closing in the new facility. That means even if the fall weather turns sour, work can continue on schedule.

“When we are all closed up, for the first time, we’ll get a true visual of the scope of the addition,” said Rail Brand.
In the weeks and months that follow, construction work will continue on the inside. Moving the wall will allow for additional concrete projects to be completed, and electrical work, restrooms, and storm shelters will be on the agenda.
Looking at all that has been accomplished – and knowing what all is to come – Rail noted that these are inspirational and motivating times at Co-Line.
