First-Quarter Meeting: Guest speaker emphasizes stretching
On a beautiful Apr. 21 morning, Co-Line held its first-quarter meeting to discuss a successful and busy start to 2016. After employees enjoyed breakfast pizza, Wellness Program Facilitator Linda Russell recognized employees participating in the first-quarter wellness program. A total of 50 people – 34 employees and 16 spouses – completed at least one wellness challenge in January, February, and/or March. Challenges included the 50/50 workout; card shark challenge; abstaining from cakes, donuts, and muffins; and more. First-quarter employee participation resulted in $2,000 being given out in cash prizes.

Eric Brand spoke next, reviewing the company's very strong start to 2016. Based on positive-trending quality, profitability, productivity, and on-time delivery measures, employees were also awarded a quarterly bonus. Eric also spoke of Co-Line’s future and its plans to break ground on the south building expansion yet this summer. In fact, the next quarterly meeting might just be under some red iron of the new building. This will be Co-Line’s largest building project in 37 years. While it’s an addition, it is the most square footage Co-Line has added on at one time with 120,000 square feet being added to the current 80,000 square feet of the south building.
Chuck Martinek, the company’s Loss Control Consultant with LMC Insurance, was the guest speaker. Martinek stressed the importance of daily stretching before work activity to warm the body up and to prevent injuries. He then led the team in different group stretches, stretching the neck, shoulders, back, hamstrings, and more. Martinek also demonstrated safe (and unsafe) lifting practices, which have changed in recent years.
Rail Brand wrapped up the meeting, and employees were given “Team Co-Line” tees, with this saying on the back: “Do a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life."
Congratulations, Team Co-Line, on a successful start to 2016!
