Coating Accolade: Co-Line named a Top Shop by 'Products Finishing'
Co-Line has been named one of the best finishing shops in the U.S., according to an industry benchmarking survey conducted by “Products Finishing” magazine, a trade publication that has covered the industry since 1938.
The magazine conducted an extensive benchmarking survey that analyzed a company in several different areas, including Current Finishing Technology, Finishing Practices and Performances, Business Strategies and Performances, and Training and Human Resources. Co-Line was recognized in particular in the liquid and powder coating segment.
Only the top 50 shops were given the honor of being a “Products Finishing” magazine “Top Shop” based on a scoring matrix of those four criteria.
“I am very proud of the efforts of our entire organization, but especially that of the paint and packaging team on being named a ‘Top Shop,’” said Co-Line co-owner Eric Brand. “This designation by ‘Products Finishing’ magazine just solidifies the efforts this team has taken to improve not only the painted product coming from their area, but the steps they have taken to rally together and become a more cohesive and productive team.”
Tony Van Wyk, team leader of the paint and packaging department, echoed Eric’s thoughts. "The entire paint/package team deserves a ton of credit. Over the past year, there has been an incredible amount of change. This team not only accepted the change, but they took it and expanded on it. This entire team shows a strong desire to be the best, and I have no doubt that we will be at the top shop position in the near future, not just the top 50."
The 40-plus-question survey conducted by “Products Finishing” this spring gave job shop and captive coaters a chance to share their production information, with a promise of detailed data in return to help them fine-tune their operations to align themselves with the best in the finishing industry.
“Co-Line Welding has established itself as one of the best finishing operations in the industry,” said Tim Pennington, editor of “Products Finishing” magazine. “The criteria we used was very stringent, and only the finishing shops that excelled in all four areas made the list. Co-Line is in rare air when it comes to finishing operations.”
To celebrate this distinction, the paint and packaging team chose to go enjoy lunch together in Des Moines followed by indoor go-kart racing on Thursday, Sept. 29. Congrats, Co-Liners!
