Co-Liners take a walk

Oct 7, 2016 / in Newsroom / by admin

Oct. 5 dawned clear and sunny – a gorgeous day for a walk around the Co-Line grounds. And that’s exactly what Co-Liners did at 11:45 that morning. Nearly 100 percent of day-shift employees stayed on the clock and participated in Iowa’s Healthiest State Walk by walking a mile together, led by Faye Brand. The walk took the exercisers all around the campus, including through the south building addition. Afterwards, participants enjoyed a free salad bar lunch served by Country Catering that received rave reviews. Participation numbers have increased quite a bit since 2011 when 10 employees did the walk. The Healthiest State Initiative’s goal is to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation. The Walk on Oct. 5 brought communities together by having a walk in all of Iowa’s 99 counties. This year’s theme aimed at getting Iowans to “Step It Up” by get people together to walk for 30 minutes. Just 30 minutes of physical activity each day improves physical, social, and emotional health.
