An Ironman of his own for third generation racer Carter Brand
Third generation racer Carter Brand may only be eight years old, but he already has an Ironman of his own. Carter took home the top honor in the 7-9 year old age group at the IHRA Goalsetter Midwest Junior Dragster Halloween Nationals presented by JR Race Cars Oct. 16-18 at Eddyville Raceway Park.
As the final race of the year, the four winners of the four age classes raced for King (or Queen) of the Track, bragging rights, and a Goalsetter basketball hoop. Carter defeated his 17-year-old opponent, moving him on to the finals. In the race off for the King of the Track, Carter lost to Chandler Brandenburg of Olathe, KS. Runner-up out of 91 cars was pretty exciting for Carter in his first drag racing season, and his racing grandpa Rail Brand was thrilled!
On Sunday, it was more racing with over 142 racing entries but no victories by Carter.
Carter is the son of Eric and Faye Brand and grandson to Rail and Tana Brand and Leon and Margaret Vander Weerdt.
